“The Chip”
Short for: The Buffalo Chip
The most famous party campground and concert venue at the rally.
“You going to the Chip tonight for Kid Rock?”
“Campground Wristband”
Your entry pass—don’t lose it!
Often required for access to showers, concerts, or private party zones at campgrounds.
“You can’t get into the Chip without your band.”
“Checkpoints”
DUI and license checks—very real and frequent at night and near exits.
Usually referred to with a head nod and a warning:
“Heads up, checkpoint by the 385 split.”
“Tent City”
A sea of tents at a major campground (Buffalo Chip, Glencoe, etc.)
Unofficial name for the densest camp zones.
“We’re in Tent City, near the flag pole.”
“Biker Barbie”
A term (sometimes affectionate, sometimes sarcastic) for a flashy rally-goer, often more into fashion than riding.
“The new girl with the rhinestone vest is a total Biker Barbie.”
“T&A Alley”
Slang for vendor alley or areas with risqué content—body painting, topless photo ops, lingerie booths.
Usually downtown Sturgis or inside the Chip.
“We walked through T&A Alley on the way to Loud American.”
“Naked Run” or “Midnight Ride”
Late-night, often informal nude or half-nude bike parades inside party campgrounds.
“Caught the Naked Run at Glencoe last night—wild stuff.”
“The Loop”
A popular riding route or bar-hop circuit, often kept vague or low-key by groups so they don’t get mobbed.
“You guys doing The Loop tonight?”
“Trailer Queen”
A bike that was trailered to the rally instead of ridden.
Often used mockingly.
“Nice chrome—but is it a rider or a Trailer Queen?”
“Rally Rat”
Someone who stays for the full 10 days or longer, often camping, partying, and going hard every night.
“You’re staying all 10 days? Total Rally Rat move.”
“Silent 22” or “Channel 22”
CB or walkie-talkie code many groups use for rally-wide comms.
“Switch to silent 22 once we hit the back roads.”
“Chip Shower”
Slang for a baby wipe cleanup instead of a real shower—especially at Buffalo Chip.
“I’m on day 3 of Chip Showers.”
“Downtown Roll”
The act of riding down Main Street just to be seen.
“Let’s do a downtown roll before it gets too packed.”
“Lock & Rock”
Rally shorthand for lock your gear and enjoy the show.
“Lock & Rock, baby. Let’s hit the concert.”
